To use it together with a PC, the computer has to have an IrDA port. It can be internal type, like the ones many laptops have, or external, usually connected to a USB port.
Once the module is powered and left under visibility range of the IrDA port of the computer, MS Windows should load the drivers corresponding to a 'Standard Modem over IR link'. In the properties of this modem you can see the serial port assigned to it, through which data can be sent and received to the module.
